Libraries play an important role during the recession
Now more than ever, libraries play an important role. Public computers are used more heavily, people are saving money borrowing DVDs from the library instead of using Blockbuster and Netflix. Summer programs are booming because the high cost of camps are unaffordable. Magazines that were once personally subscribed to have been eliminated can be found at the library.
Everywhere libraries are a free resource for adult programs, books, music CDs, childrens events and more. Resumes are being updated on public computers, job searches are being conducted and people are coming out of the heat.
